The Edenvale Marathon is an official Comrades and Two Oceans Marathon qualifier. Marathon qualifying times will be calculated on a mat-to-mat basis. Athletes will need to down load and submit their times to Comrades and Two Oceans.

Rand Road Warriors is a road running club based in Edenvale. We are a small family oriented running club who support the local community where possible. Rand Road Warriors in conjunction with StaminoGro are proud to present the Edenvale Marathon 2024. This event consists of a marathon, 15km Blitz, 5km Sprint, and 5km Fun Run on Sunday, 03 March 2024.

Athletes will need to down load and submit their times to Comrades and Two Oceans as potential qualifying time. Qualifying times will be calculated on a mat-to-mat basis. The 5km Fun Run will not be timed.

A portion of the proceeds from the the event will be donated to three charities who are based in Edenvale and work within the Edenvale Community.

Rules

Race Rules
This race is held under the rules of WA, ASA and CGA. By entering the race each athlete accepts the responsibility to know and abide by these rules. Race Route: The route for the 42km and 5km route is the same as 2020 with a new 15km Blitz route. All marshals, traffic officers and officials’ instructions must be obeyed. Minimum ages on race day: 42km – 20 years, 15km – 16 year, and 5km - 5 years. No age limit for fun run, children under age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. No refund of race entry fees. Walkers and wheelchair athletes are welcome. Wheelchair athletes must make direct contact with the Race Office before the Marathon for specific start instructions. Please email race@randroadwarriors.co.za No pets allowed. No earphones, iPods, MP3 players, headphones or other electronic devices may be used during the race other than hearing aids. Wearing earphones may result in disqualification. Runners who are disqualified will not be provided with any medal or race hand-out.
Race Indemnity
Participants in the Edenvale Marathon, 15km Blitz, 5km official race and Fun Run and related activities ("the event") acknowledge that although all precautions have been taken by the organising body there may be dangers inherent in participation in the event. Participants irrevocably indemnify the organizers against any liability or claims of any nature whatsoever arising (whether directly or indirectly, whether by negligence, albeit gross and/or from involvement in or passage to or from the event) including but not limited to liability or delay, inconvenience, accident, death, injury, illness to their person, or loss or damage to property or costs and expenses sustained, incurred or put to by participants and/or by any minor child under the care or control of participants. Parents or guardians authorising a minors’ participation in the event, hereby consent to such minor, not being capable of waiving his/her rights as stipulated. In consideration of the acceptance of my entry, I, for myself, executors, heirs, administrators and assigns do hereby release and discharge The Edenvale Marathon, Rand Road Warriors and its sponsors or any voluntary groups, all medical personnel, any and all authorities from all claims for injuries, damage and property loss I may suffer caused by negligence of any of them and arriving of my participation in the event, including pre- and post-race activities. I am physically fit and sufficiently trained to participate in this event and assume all risk for participation. I accept all the rules, conditions and regulations which include terms of payment of entry fee and will comply with them. I also grant my permission to Edenvale Marathon, Rand Road Warriors and its authorized agents to use my name, photoghraphs, video, broadcasts, telecasts, advertising promotion or other account of this event free of charge.
Parking Indemnity
Off road parking at Dowerglen High School can be purchased online for R30. Limited to 750 parkings. Street and additional parking is available at your own discretion. You are parking and leaving your vehicle at your own risk. Please lock all doors and windows after removing any property of value from front of the vehicle. The Edenvale Marathon nor it's association will in the event, be liable for loss or damage to your vehicle or property.
Licenses
Licensed athletes must wear their 2024 ASA license number on their Club race shirt / vest with the top branded section visible both front and back The Edenvale Marathon race number must be displayed on the front of the shirt / vest. Temporary licences must be worn on the back of plain clothing and not Club Kit. Temporary licences will be available online and at registration. The 2024 Temporary Licenses fees are 5km Sprint – R30, 15km - R60, and 42km – R200. Foreign athletes must abide by rules as per WA and ASA rules.
Timing and Prizes
Peak Timing will time the 5km Sprint race, the 15km and 42km event electronically with the advertised start times. To ensure that you are accurately recorded in the race results it is important that you do not fold your race number with the electronic timing chip. The start mats will remain open for 15min after the start of each race distance. Thereafter, you will be assigned the gun time as your start time Athletes will need to download and submit their times to Comrades and Two Oceans. Age Category tags must be worn on the front and back of the vest and be clearly visible in order to be eligible to win age category prizes. Proof of age must be produced on the day. All marathon runners will be allocated times on mat-to-mat basis and this will be used for seeding / qualification in other events.
    Start time for are as follows;
  • Edenvale Marathon - 6:00am.
  • 15km Blitz – 6:15am
  • 5km Sprint – 6:30am
  • 5km Fun Run – 6:30am
  • Cut off time is 12:30 pm
Marathon runners must pass the corner of First Avenue and Linksfield Road, (approx. 20.2km) before 9:30 or they will be directed to the finish at the end of the first lap. Prizes are only awarded on gun to mat times. Only those who have completed all information required on the race entry are eligible for prizes. Proof of age for prize winners is required and must be presented to the referees before prize giving. Prizes will be withheld until all the necessary details of the winners are confirmed. Prize money will be electronically transferred within 14 days of the event. Proof of banking is required.
Club Gazebos and Vendors
No Ambush advertising or marketing is allowed on the venue site. Pre-approval is required for all Running Clubs and Food / Clothing Vendor Gazebos. Email the Race Director for approval: race@randroadwarriors.co.za. Gazebos are to be set up on Saturday. No set up on the field will be allowed on Sunday. Gazebos are to be set up +- 2 meters apart from each other. CLUB GAZEBOS THAT ARRIVE WITHOUT AUTHORISATION MAY BE MOVED OR REFUSED ON THE FINISH FIELD – THERE IS NO APPEAL ON THIS ASPECT AND THE ORGANISERS DECISION IS FINAL. No open fires or braai are allowed on the finish venue. Gas Braai/Stove/Skottels will be allowed provided that a fire extinguisher is produced and kept at hand. THE VENUE WILL CLOSE AT 14:00
General
The first 500 entries to the 15km Blitz will receive a t-shirt, there are limited numbers per size. The first 500 entries to the marathon receive a t-shirt, there are limited numbers per size.Medals: Medals: Medals will be given to all finishers. Race Route: The marathon route is the same as the 2023 route (double lap). The 15km will follow the marathon route for about 12km and then split off to return to the finish venue. The 5km route will be the same as the 2023 5km route. It is the athlete’s responsibility to know the route ahead of participating. All marshals, traffic officers and officials’ instructions must be obeyed. Minimum ages on race day: 42km - 20 years and 15km - 16 years. 5km sprint – 5 years No refund of race entry fees. Pushchair and wheelchair athletes are welcome. All such participants MUST start at the back of the field. No seconding is allowed. No blades, cyclist or mechanically operated devices allowed in the race. No animals/pets are allowed to participate. No earphones, iPods, MP3 players, headphones or other electronic devices may not be used during the race other than hearing aids. Wearing earphones may result in disqualification. Athletes may not run with another athlete’s ASA number or their Edenvale Marathon Race number unless the number has been substituted at race registration. The cost of a substitution is R50. Runners who are disqualified will not be provided with a medal or race hand-out. The race organizer retains the right to refuse entry and eject persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol, who are disorderly, or engage in inappropriate behaviour, vandalism or evade paying for admission. Athletes who participate without buying a race entry will be disqualified, will not be entitled to any benefits associated with the race and will be liable for a double entry fee charge. Habitual offenders (those who regularly participate without purchasing a race entry) will be called to a CGA disciplinary. ASA / CGA Licenced athletes not wearing club colours may face disqualification. Littering is not allowed. Athletes are to dispose of any litter in appropriate bins. Athletes can be disqualified if they litter. Objections/disputes must be lodged within 30 minutes before and after prize giving in writing to the chief referee accompanied by R500.00 which is refundable if the appeal is upheld.
